WHO WE ARE

DREAM TURNED REALITY:: KIM SUMMERS-DOLLEH

Kim is the owner and visionary behind Creative Studios. Her artistic journey took root in high school, when a teacher recognized her creative potential. While she studied art on a full scholarship at Syracuse University, she spent 3 years under the mentorship of ceramicist David MacDonald. He received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in 2011. He shared with her his love for ceramics and the powerful ability to express oneself through ceramics.

In addition, Kim spent time overseas at the Chelsea School of Art in London, with a concentration on ceramic and sculpture. After graduating, Kim added on another career as a nurse, along with balancing life as a mother. After years of experiencing the art scene in New York and London, Kim longed for a similar artistic space in her Brooklyn, NY community.

When the opportunity presented itself to make this dream a reality, she started to see the endless possibilities. This was a space she could share her years of experience to help other artist fine tune their skill, as well as hosting workshops with innovative creators.

She didn't want to limit the joy of pottery to ceramicist. Kim also wanted this space to welcome anyone who was curious about pottery, to experience it first hand. Pottery isn't only a way to express yourself artistically. It also has great benefits that include relieving anxiety, helping with focus and relaxation and more.

WHY WE CREATED
CREATIVE STUDIOS

Our Brooklyn Creative Studios is for both the serious artist and novice. We provide coaching, guidance, and a platform for artistic expressions for people from all walks of life. ACS is the place where people who live full lives can come to step outside the stressful day and channel their energy in a creative and constructive manner. The lovely building is a great place for private and social events, corporate team building, and business meetings designed to facilitate “out of the box” thinking: a necessary skill in this ever-growing global market. One of the most beneficial aspects of Brooklyn Creative Studios & Cafe is the fun, educational, inspiring, and creative development for everyone of all ages.

We strive to provide creative outlets for every level of engagement, from classes in our fully equipped pottery studio teaching pottery to advanced potters and those with little to no experience. Brooklyn Creative Studios & Café’s goal is always to inspire, encourage, and enhance the lives of all people by offering a Private Events department designed to strengthen our ties with the community and show our appreciation and gratitude to the local Brooklyn neighborhood.

At Brooklyn Creative Studios, we encourage all people “Do not just exist … EAT … CREATE … LIVE”
